Imperial Market is Fort Bend's Top Choice

Imperial Market, is anticipated to be the development Fort Bend residents use the most, according to a poll conducted by Community Impact Newspaper.

The poll, conducted Aug. 4-31, asked readers to vote on the development they would utilize the most. More than 41 percent of respondents selected Imperial Market, edging out both the Smart Financial Center — an $84 million indoor performance venue opening in 2017 — and the new festival grounds area at Brazos River Park that will eventually accommodate 30,000 people for outdoor events.

Located on 26-acres within the historic Imperial Sugar Company Refinery, Imperial Market will house upscale shopping, dining and entertainment venues as well as a high-end boutique hotel, Class A office space, the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center and the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation Museum.

The Fort Bend Children’s Museum opened on the first floor of the 12,500-square-foot former container warehouse in May and several high- end restaurants, coffee houses and bars have already signed on to tenant some of the 269,600 square feet of retail space available.

Confirmed establishments include Schilleci’s New Orleans Kitchen, Mia Bella Trattoria, the high-end Guild Bar lounge, Frost Gelato, wine bar and record lounge Vino & Vinyl and The Company Town, a coffee shop and café. A nine-screen Alamo Drafthouse also is planned.

Construction on Imperial Market, located on U.S. Highway 90 between Interstate 69 and Highway 6, will begin in January. It will be the centerpiece of 720-acre Imperial, a project of Johnson Development Corp., who sold the land for the center to Imperial Market Development, LLC in July.

Imperial offers luxury townhomes, lifestyle patio homes, three-story brownstones and larger traditional homes from the $400,000s to more than $1 million. In addition to being within walking distance of Imperial Market, residents can take in a ball game at Constellation Field, enjoy walking and biking trails, browse a weekly farmers market and easily access major employment centers.
