Our hearts are with Texas as Harvey recovery efforts continue. Following is a list of assistance programs for people in the Fort Bend region affected in the catastrophic storm and organizations in the area still seeking donations or volunteers.
FEMA Disaster Assistance Provides assistance with finding your nearest FEMA Disaster Recovery Center and filing a claim.
Fort Bend Recovers Fort Bend Recovers is a collaborative network established and maintained on behalf of the individuals, families, businesses and communities in Fort Bend County to facilitate and implement a coordinated response to disaster recovery needs. The site provides information disaster recovery centers set up by FEMA, volunteer and work groups and donation coordination.
Report Damage The Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management form serves as a way for Fort Bend County to estimate the amount of damages within the County. This form will not get you reimbursement from the government, but may help officials make a determination for a disaster declaration.
Greater Houston Builders Association The GHBA is ready to assist during the rebuilding process with a number of helpful articles and tips that will take you from post-flood clean-up to hiring a reputable contractor.
The State Bar of Texas 800-504-7030 The State Bar of Texas legal hotline helps people find answers to basic legal questions by connecting them with local legal aid providers following declared disasters.
Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management The FBCOEM has put together a list of all sites acting as donation drop-off and distribution centers. Donation distribution locations are areas where evacuees in need can go to pick up goods. Donation drop-off locations are where folks may drop off donations for those in need. Please do not drop off items at distribution centers. Please refer to the list to see which items are being accepted as different drop-off locations may have an overabundance of some items.
Feed the Hungry
East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry 281-261-1006 In addition to operating a food pantry, the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry seeks to address the basic human needs of people in temporary financial crisis in East Fort Bend County.
Houston Food Bank 713-223-3700 The Houston Food Bank is open and in need of volunteers. You can also help by donating money and ready-to-eat staples such as like pop-top meat / fish, powdered milk, cereal, canned fruit, fruit cups, peanut butter and jelly.
Second Mile 281-261-9199 Items needed include food and cleaning supplies such as rubber gloves, household lime, Lysol, mold disinfectant, industrial strength paper towels, rags, mops, masks, bleach and $25 Home Depot and Lowe’s gift cards.
Volunteer Houston Specifically for Hurricane Harvey, Fort Bend County has teamed with Volunteer Houston to provide a system to fill specific volunteer needs based on a volunteer’s experience and capabilities.
Crisis Cleanup Are you with a relief organization and want to volunteer your team or work crew? Crisis Cleanup is where the voluntary organizations are coordinating for short-term recovery work such as cleaning houses.
Team Rubicon Pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible. Three-hundred and thirty Greyshirts have deployed to Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, with hundreds more providing remote support.
All Hands Volunteers All Hands Volunteers will be on the ground for at least the next two years, helping families recover from Harvey. Support their efforts through donations and offers to come and volunteer.
H-E-B Stores All H-E-B, Central Market and Joe V’s Smart Shop stores across Texas give customers an opportunity to support victims through donations of $1, $3, or $5, which can be added to their total grocery bill. All monies will benefit the American Red Cross for Texas Flood and Hurricane Relief, The Salvation Army and Feeding Texas.
