THE FARMERS MARKET AT IMPERIAL AND BOY SCOUT TROOP 148 NEEDS ASSISTANCE IN FIGHTING HUNGER AT HOME

(Sugar Land, November 21, 2013) – The Farmers Market at Imperial and Boy Scout Troop 148, needs community residents to bring non-perishable food items to Sugar Land’s Imperial Market at 198 Kempner, on December 7, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  This will benefit those individuals that are fighting hunger in Sugar Land and the surrounding communities.  This event is proudly sponsored by the Sugar Land Lions Club, and it is an inaugural event for the Farmers Market as well an Annual Holiday Food Drive of the Lions “Relieving the Hunger” campaign.  This global campaign, for the Lions, is taking place during the months of December and January which focuses on hunger and malnutrition.

Lions everywhere share a common belief, “community is what we make it.”  During the “Relieving the Hunger” campaign, Lions are fighting hunger in their communities, while raising awareness of this global problem.  Nearly one billion people do not get enough food to be healthy.  Recently, financial and economic crises have pushed more people into hunger, and many hunger relief organizations are finding it difficult to keep up with demand.  “Organizing this project gives us a chance to help families in our community who don’t have enough to eat or can’t afford to buy nutritious food,” said Ella Aubin, President. “We’re trying to build a stronger, healthier community.”

This will benefit your community, so please consider giving to this great cause, during this holiday season.  When heading to the Farmers Market, please enter off Ulrich Street between Imperial Sugar and Nalco, and Boy Scout Troup 148 will be there to assist with the pick-up.
